Subject: Extension of Examination Windows
The Indiana Real Estate Commission, in response to the disruption that COVID-19 has had on testing schedules, is extending the window in which an individual has to take the Real Estate Broker Exam. If an individual’s one-year window in which they can take the broker exam expires in 2020, then that window is extended for six months. This change is to be effective as of May 20th, 2020 after the vote by the Commission.
The public health crisis has caused many testing sites to close to the public which has severely impacted the ability for applicants who have finished a pre-licensure course to take their exam within the required year. The six month extension for all individuals whose testing window expires in 2020 should give any applicants whose testing was disrupted ample time to schedule and take their exam. All applicants and testing centers should be aware of this change and the impact it will have on their ability to take and administer the test. All other requirements and regulations regarding the test are still in place beyond this extension.
It is the Commission’s hope that this extension will allow these individuals who have completed their required pre-licensure courses to still be able to sit for their exam with as minimal disruption on their path to licensure. Thank you all for everything you are doing to best represent our profession during these ever-changing, difficult times.
